Tenerife: a paradise for outdoor sports

Hiking, cycling, surfing, mountain biking, kayaking... on this Canary island you can practise all the sports you want.

We could spend hours talking about all the fantastic things that Tenerife has to offer. Maybe you don't need too much encouragement to escape to the Canary Islands, but what if we show you a different side to Tenerife? Thanks to its pleasant climate, it's also a great place to do sport. And that goes for everyone: top-level athletes, amateurs... you're all welcome!

Hiking

The island has 1,500 kilometres of hiking trails. Yep, that's right: 1,500 kilometres! If you like going for walks in stunning settings and discovering nature reserves on foot, that's the first activity you can do. Besides, you'll be spoit for choice, both along the coast and inland, though obviously the major landmark is the Teide.

Cycling

The same goes for biking activities: you can choose between routes by the sea and routes through the countryside. Oh, and there's the added advantage of being able to cycle at 2,000 metres above sea level. It's no wonder Tenerife is such a popular training location for top-level athletes.

Surfing

Passionate about the sea and waves? Pack your board and fly to the Tenerife coast. We recommend Almáciga Beach for superb waves all year round, El Roquete Beach for a magical setting near San Cristóbal de La Laguna, and of course El Socorro Beach. Prefer to visit the south of the island? Then head to Punta Blanca for an amazing cliff-lined beach. These and many more great surfing beaches await you in Tenerife.

Mountain biking

Most of the mountain bike routes on the island are in the upper part of Tenerife, specifically in the Corona Forestal Nature Park, the largest protected area on the whole island. If you're looking for a great experience, be sure to visit it and enjoy the breathtaking views of the lush green forest with the deep blue sea in the background.

Kayaking

So you're into kayaking as well? Why wouldn't you be? It's a sport that lets you explore some unique areas and discover some amazing landscapes. For example, you can kayak to the Los Gigantes cliffs and see caves and coves that are very difficult to reach otherwise. That privilege is within your reach.

Scuba diving, wind surfing, kite surfing... Tenerife offers endless outdoor sports activities. Enjoy this open-air gym with stunning views all year round... believe us, you won't find anywhere like it. Shall we book some flights to Tenerife?
