Ten things to do in Malta when the good weather arrives

Music, art, fireworks, ice-cold beers and endless nights on the beach. When the good weather arrives, Malta comes alive!

Have you ever been to Malta? If not, what are you waiting for? Make your way to this beautiful island packed with stunning beaches and historic and cultural sites. Clear your schedule, because Malta is the place to be this summer! Nothing better than starting off the day with a dip in the sea and then going on to do one of the tons of activities on offer in summer on this charming Mediterranean island that never sleeps. The options are endless! You’re sure to find something you’ll love.

Wanderlust Festival

This family festival takes place on 6-7 April and is the best place to have a great time as a family, enjoy live music together, go to workshops and do activities, and even joint yoga and mindfulness sessions. The day ends with a fun and colourful two-hour party! The Wanderlust Festival is also a great excuse to visit the beautiful town that hosts it: Ta'Qali, which is famous for its varied range of crafts. Another great plan is to explore the National Park, where the festival takes place, which is full of vegetation and pleasant picnic areas.

Earth Garden Festival

Make a note of this because June is jam-packed with fun activities! The Earth Garden Festival, which takes place on 6-9 June, is one of the major musical events of the summer, also happening at Ta’Qali National Park. You know you’re on to a winner when you find six stages and over a hundred performances of various genres, ranging from ska to funk, reggae, indie, rock, hip hop, techno and house, among others. But that’s not all: relaxation areas, children’s areas, gastronomy, three markets, a shisha area and a range of cocktails area also available at the event.  There’s only one motto here: if you don’t have a good time at the Earth Garden Festival, it’s because you don’t want to!

SummerDaze Malta

In true Mediterranean fashion, the locals immediately take to the streets and start dancing and celebrating. A good example of this passion for nightlife and festivals is the popular SummerDaze, an amazing musical festival that takes place in August (this year on 11th-18th) and is an event not to be missed. This year, festivalgoers will be able to enjoy Black Eyed Peas, as well as urban music icons, such as Fred de Palma and Elettra Lamborghini.

Malta Music Week and Isle of MTV

And we’re bringing you more music, because in Malta it never stops! Another great excuse to get yourself to the island and dance the night away is the popular Music Week, which will take place on 13-17 July in various locations across the city. But that’s not all, because this festival is held at the same time as the famous Isle of MTV festival, which every year attracts more than 50,000 visitors thanks to its spectacular lineup. Tick tock, tick tock... we're already counting down the seconds until then!

Malta Biennale

Art lovers now have the perfect excuse to visit Malta between 13 March and 31 May. This is when the art Biennale takes place, which coincides with the beginning of spring and is a real treat for the senses. This event turns some of the city’s most iconic historic sites into perfect settings for the most varied artistic creations. The heart of it is located in Valletta, the beautiful and bustling capital designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, where world-renowned artists meet for a few days. You really cant miss it!

International Fireworks Festival

This spectacular event that fills the skies of Malta every year is one of those things that you have to see at least once in a lifetime. This year it will take place on 20-30 April and, as usual, the island will come to standstill to enjoy this beautiful display of fire, sounds and colours. As always, the fireworks shows will take place in different parts of Malta over several days and finish with a bang in Valletta. It’s a good idea to arrive a few days early and spend time visiting terraces and spots to decide which is the ideal location to enjoy the best view of this wonderful moment which, unfortunately, only takes place once a year.

Farsons Beer Festival

Cerveza, música, actividades familiares, buen tiempo y comida rica.
