Christmas is a time of traditions. We usually do the same things year after year. So, why not do something different for a change? We have a great idea that we know you'll love: a Christmas getaway! You can embrace this new tradition by travelling to a city that loves to celebrate Christmas. Next stop: Christmas in London!
- Be amazed by the lights switch-on
If you're lucky enough to be in London on 6 December, you have to be at Trafalgar Square at 6pm. Don't miss the event that officially kicks off the Christmas season: the lights switch-on. And to make it even more special, there will be a choir singing Christmas carols under the tallest Christmas tree in the UK.
- Free Christmas tour
If you love free tours, you can't miss the special Christmas one. It will take you round the city's most famous spots (Covent Garden, Picadilly Circus, Regent Street, Carnaby Street, Oxford Street, etc.), whilst you take in every single detail: lights, Christmas trees, carols, street markets, perfectly decorated shop windows, and much more.
- Feel like a child again at Winter Wonderland
Winter Wonderland is both for adults and children alike. It's simply magical! From the end of November to the beginning January, a huge theme park is set up in Hyde Park. It also has a Christmas market, food stalls, music, live performances, a circus, an ice rink, and more!
- Become an ice skater at Somerset House
There are lots of ice rinks around London but if we were to choose one, it would be the one in the courtyard of the iconic Somerset House, on the Strand. And you know the best thing? From 5pm the best current DJs perform live. You won't be able to resist it!
- Harrods gets ready for Christmas
If you are one of those who puts the tree up two months before Christmas (or would even leave the decorations up all year round!), you'll absolutely love Harrods. The whole store, inside and out, will be decked out for Christmas. The amazing decorations will take your breath away!
- Another glass of mulled wine, please!
Christmas in London tastes of mulled wine. It's a mixture of red wine, fruit, cinnamon and spices. You drink it warm so it'll go down a treat when it's cold, before you carry on with your tour round London!
