Let’s go on a road trip to discover what lies beyond big cities. We would like to suggest several routes so you can hire a car and go exploring.
We often fly to big cities and don’t bother to explore what lies beyond the city “walls”. But we’d like to suggest something different: a road trip! Choose your destination, book your flights, hire a car and you’ll be good to go! Vueling Cars offers you cheap car hire: you can compare over 1,600 companies, you’ll have the advantage of being able to cancel your car hire booking up to 48 hours in advance and you’ll collect Avios too!
Road trip in the north of Galicia from Santiago
The Rías Baixas are the most popular part of Galicia. However, the north is well worth exploring and we’d like to suggest a route that will help you do just that. We bring you a road trip that starts off in Santiago de Compostela, goes to A Costa da Morte, Finisterre, A Coruña, Playa de las Catedrales, Lugo and then returns to Santiago.
Road trip in the Basque Country from Bilbao
So here’s the plan: fly to Bilbao, have some pintxos somewhere in the city centre and then... it’ll be time to hit the road! This road trip will take you to Sopelana, Górliz, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, Mudaka, Urdaibai (Bermeo, Guernika, Ea, Elantxobe, Lekeitio).
Road trip in El Priorat from Barcelona
Barcelona is a great destination in itself, but if you have a bit of extra time, we recommend visiting the area of El Priorat, which is famous for its wine. On this road trip you’ll be able to do a bit of wine tourism in Siurana, Escaladei, Cornudella de Montsant, Falset and Bellmunt. And the olive oil in this region is not to be sniffed at either!
Road trip through the White Villages in Cadiz
The name “White Villages” speaks for itself. Traditionally, the walls have always been whitewashed to protect the houses from the sun. You can discover these picturesque villages on this beautiful road trip: Vejer de la Frontera, Arcos de la Frontera, Zahara de la Sierra, Olvera, Setenil de las Bodegas and Grazalema are just a few of the villages on this route. Let’s head south!
Road trip in the Costa del Sol from Malaga
In case you didn’t know, the Costa del Sol is the coastline that stretches from Malaga to Cadiz, in the south of Spain. It’s a go-to destination if you love the sun and the beach! (The name “Costa del Sol” means “Sunshine Coast” and is very apt!) If you fancy getting to know this area, here is a road trip that takes you from Malaga to Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Marbella, Estepona and Nerja.
Road trip in Tuscany from Pisa
It comes as no surprise that the beautiful region of Tuscany features in so many films. Rolling green hills, beautiful light, endless vineyards and, why not, restaurants serving tasty food in every village! If you don’t know this region, fly to Pisa and go on this road trip: Luca, Pistoia, Montecatini Terme, Florence, San Gimignano, Siena, Montefiorale, Montepulciano and Cortona.
Road trip in Provence from Marseille
Provence, in the southeast of France, is a region full of charm. Especially in summer, between June and August, when the lavender blooms and the fields turn purple. Some of the towns that you shouldn’t miss on your road trip in Provence are Gordes, Roussillon, Bonnieux, Les Baux de Provence, Village de les Boires and Provençal Colorado. And you must make sure you stop at least in one of the markets that are held in these towns.
