Take up a sport, lose weight, stop smoking, learn English... Whatever your new year's resolution or wish, you'll achieve it. All you need to do is travel! And here are a few ideas to get the ball rolling.
"Tell me your new year's resolution and I'll tell you where to travel to achieve it." That's how easy it is. And fun! Because you don't need to do a coaching course to know that travelling to other places opens your mind and helps you to find the strength and energy to fulfil every resolution and wish you make. If you want to test that, here are some ideas.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 1: TAKE UP A SPORT
You could do the same as everyone else and join a gym, but if you're not really that keen on sport why not look for other more interesting ways of cultivating the habit? For example, you could go to Gran Canaria, which not only has a very pleasant climate in winter but offers sports activities for every taste—hiking, cycling, stand up paddle boarding, rock climbing, fishing … the list is endless.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 2: STOP SMOKING
A classic! How many people wait until 1 January to give up this bad habit? But before you resort to hypnosis to stop smoking, we recommend that you try changing your routine for a few days and getting away from other smokers. Take a mini-break to Sweden, the European country with the lowest rate of smokers (10.4%). They're even thinking about banning smoking at pavement cafes. And when you factor in the low temperatures, you'll find plenty of excuses for not going outside for a smoke.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 3: LEARN ENGLISH
The universal language, the language of travellers. If you still don't speak it, here's a fun idea for taking a few classes: do them in Malta! In case you didn't know, English is the official language of this island, and with the vast range of leisure options and economical prices it's an ideal destination to learn the language. If you just need to brush up your speaking skills, you'll be able to take part in language exchanges and meet people at the same time.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 4: GO ON A DIET
Sometimes losing weight is simply a matter of eating a better diet. Any idea where they've mastered the art of salad and healthy eating? That's right, Greece is the place to go. Hardly surprising when you consider that the word "diet" comes from the Greek “dayta”. They're light years ahead of us when it comes to preparing healthy dishes. And they also happen to be delicious! A few days eating Greek salads, tasty tzatziki, melitzanosalata (roasted aubergines) and grilled fish is enough to revitalise anyone.
